Leftover market food becomes lunch for the neighbourhood.

Every night we collect unsold vegetables and bread, then cook them for neighbours who need a meal. Three years now, without a single day off.

of food rescued this month, roughly 11,520 portions.

From stall to plate in 15 hours

  1. Colourful crates of collected vegetables

    1. Pick up

At 9 pm, volunteers on motorbikes collect unsold vegetables, fruit, and bread from 14 market stalls and 6 bakeries.

  2. Soup ladled from a big pot onto plates

    2. Cook

The next morning, the community kitchen sorts what is still good and cooks sayur asem, stir-fries, and rice for 300 portions.

  3. A table full of plates, shared together

    3. Share

At midday the food goes out to care homes, ojek driver stands, and registered neighbours, no strings attached.

Rp 5,000 = one warm plate

The ingredients come free from the market. Donations pay for gas, rice, spices, and fuel for the pickup bikes.
